Cellulitis

Last
Thursday
night I noticed Jade had a hang nail on her left index finger, that looked a little red and swollen. I showed Bridger and we didn't really think anything of it other than we would just watch it. The next morning Jade's finger was about twice the size of the other one and the swelling had moved into three of her knuckles and about half way down her palm. It was tender for her if you touched it but other than that she crawled and moved herself around like nothing was bothering her. I took her to the doctor and they said it was cellulitis, which is a form of a staph infection. He said that it probably just started with the hang nail and some bacteria got in there and it became infected. This is a hard age anyway because they just want to get down on the ground and crawl around which is the dirtiest place we could possibly put them. The doctor gave her a shot of antibiotics and started her on oral antibiotics. Her finger looked much better the next day and is almost back to normal.
